FCA training on the podcast
With a few weeks left until Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulation begins for pre-paid plans, Golden Charter’s Partnership Podcast has taken a look at the training funeral directors have to complete.
On the latest 15 minute episode, Malcolm Flanders speaks to one of the over 1,500 funeral directors and staff who have registered for a training webinar with Golden Charter this summer. The two hour training session meets an FCA requirement, and has to be completed by any approved person or funeral plan seller who wants to continue offering Golden Charter plans to families once regulation comes into force at the end of this month.
Paisley’s Kenneth Keegan has completed the training, and has put several staff through it too. He talks about how the process went for him and his staff, why regulation is so important, and the future of his business in the local community.
Kenneth called out the value of getting trained alongside dozens of other Independents.
He said: “It was good to be able to do it with other funeral directors. There might have been things I wasn’t necessarily thinking as the training was going on, and they were able to capture and bring up.
“It was good to be able to share that best practice.
“And at the end, when those questions are collated, answers can come from that. It’s good to be able to look at people’s different perspectives [and] how they see it.”
