Poppy competition sees sales increase

New figures from Golden Charter have shown a boost in plan numbers for many of the funeral directors engaged in last year’s remembrance activity.

Fifty independent funeral directors took part in Golden Charter’s window display competition in November, marking the charity partnership between Golden Charter and The Royal British Legion and Poppyscotland.

Nearly a third of these saw a year on year increase in funeral plan sales during the key memorial period, including overall winner Alexander Burn Funeral Directors. Overall, those Independents’ sales increased by over 45%.

Director of Funeral Director Sales Malcolm Flanders said: “It was very heartening to see so many funeral directors show their support for the partnership in such a visually striking way. It’s also very encouraging to see that in some cases, increased sales have gone in hand with this additional engagement.

“Golden Charter is aiming to raise £100,000 by November 2017, and I’m pleased to announce that with the valued support of Independents, we have now raised over £75,000.”

Alexander Burn Funeral Directors won Best Overall Display during the competition. Nigel Groves Funeral Directors won Most Creative Display and J & S Funeral Service won Best Community Engagement.
