Independent seeks Ukraine aid
As the war in Ukraine continues to cause heartbreak and displacement, one Independent has taken steps to address the unfolding humanitarian crisis. Neville Funerals, which has branches in and around Luton, set up collection boxes in each of its nine funeral branches so local people could call in to drop off what they could.
The staff, led by owner Vicky Trumper (right), are ensuring that all donations are regularly delivered to the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain, the largest representative body for Ukrainians and those of Ukrainian descent in the UK.
“We want to do what we can to help and also help our communities give what they can,” says Vicky. “Together, we can support those who have had to flee their homes and provide them with some essential supplies such as first aid kits, bandages and painkillers, torches, power banks and batteries, and sleeping bags.”
