FCA regulation on the podcast

The Partnership Podcast

A south Essex funeral director has outlined her approach to Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulation on the latest edition of the Partnership Podcast.

As part of its ongoing mini series on FCA regulation, Golden Charter’s Malcolm Flanders invited Maria Stibbards of S Stibbards & Sons to talk about what thought the Independent had put into regulation. Maria explained why the Appointed Representative route was right for them, and talked about other work they had started to do in advance of next July’s deadline. She also outlined the support available.

Maria said: “We’re going to go for the ‘Appointed Representative’, that best fits the way we operate at the moment.

“That’s going to enable us to have all the interaction with the families that we currently have, so that the family experience is not that different. Most people seem to come to us for the funeral plans, because of the name above our door.

“And we don’t want things to change for families.”

The regulation mini series began with Golden Charter’s Head of Regulatory Compliance, Mairi Rodger, outlining what the FCA rulebook means for funeral directors. You can listen to that episode here.
