Training for post-mortem reconstruction
Ongoing training is essential within the funeral profession. The William Purves embalmers team recently put this into practice by attending a post-mortem reconstruction course with tutor Martin Jeffrey MBIE Dip Fdf.
The rigorous training was held at the University of St Andrews’ School of Medicine.
Following the session, tutor Martin said: “I would like to congratulate my colleagues at William Purves on the completion of the post-mortem reconstruction course.
“While the course was very intensive and hard work, everyone put in a fantastic effort which produced excellent results. Adding reconstruction to their personal skills brings a new area of expertise to the local families we serve.
“Leaving with the confidence to know how to handle trauma cases equips them to better serve William Purves and, more importantly, the families who rely on our support.”
Martin added: “I would also like to thank Dr Enis Cezayirli, Head of Anatomy, and all his colleagues at the university for their help and support in bringing this much needed course to the funeral profession. The environment and atmosphere of the university is truly inspiring.”
The course was attended by Derek Johnston, Elgin, Connor MacPherson, Inverurie, Rod Howie, Dundee, Peter Eaton-MacLean, Edinburgh, Andrew Doran, Edinburgh, Lesley Stewart, Galashiels, and Steve Wraight, Northumberland.
One of the attendees added: “The practical skills and knowledge imparted during the sessions from Martin have equipped me to perform my duties with a greater level of competence and confidence.”
